Ok, we've all done it: "This year, I'm going to eat right, exercise, and be healthier." No more resolutions, folks. This time, we're all getting healthy. For real.
This is my first blog. I am not a "blogger" by any means. I look at two food blogs on a regular basis that give me my fix of yummy looking desserts and ideas to try in my own kitchen. Other than that, I am totally new to this blogging thing. But I felt that I needed some way to spread the good word-to friends, to family, to absolute strangers! It's time to live healthier. We need to age skinny! How many old, fat people do you know??
I'm a certified physician assistant with an undergraduate education centered around the human body and nutrition. So needless to say I'm a little passionate about wellness and healthy lifestyles. But I'm a real person too. I love to eat. I love food and the social ties that go along with it. I love a cold draft of Blue Moon or a glass of Chardonnay. I love to bake; sweets are my absolute pride and joy and at the same time, my worst enemy. But I hate running. And I hate going to the gym after a long day at work. And I feel a little disdain for the marathoners outside at 6:00 am when there is snow on the ground and the wind chill is 3. Who's with me?!
We don't have to give up the things we love or hate our lives to be healthier human beings. That's what I'm saying. That's my purpose here. To educate. To enlighten. To encourage. To bring people together that are trying to make the change but are failing every time because it's impossible to stick to a diet of celery and water while hitting the gym for 2 hours after you've worked a 10 hour shift. In the posts to follow I plan to show you that it isn't impossible to make the changes necessary to live a longer, happier, healthier life. But it is time.
